Chicago-Area Technology Firm Hopes to Bring Gold to Chicago

 

Chicago, IL – February 5, 2009 - Though Chicago lost its bid for the 2016 games, Northbrook, Illinois based Black Diamond Technologies (BDT) is hoping that The USA Luge team will be bringing home medals from Vancouver and Whistler this month .  That’s because Black Diamond is the official technology solution provider for the US Luge Team, and also a proud corporate sponsor. 

 

“US National teams are the only teams in the world that do not receive money directly from the government, so corporate sponsorship is a big part of ‘bringing home the gold’” says Gordy Sheer, Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for USA Luge 1998 silver medalist. “Black Diamond has been a great sponsor both in providing technology solutions to our offices in Lake Placid as well as critical financial support to our athletes”.

 

“The dedication of the athletes and coaches at US Luge Team weighed heavily in our decision to support the team” says Michael Kupfer, CEO of BDT.  “We were energized by supporting an organization that takes young athletes from all parts of the country and elevates them to the highest levels of competition with a selection process that is entirely unlike any other sport.” 

 

USA Luge identifies promising athletes by providing kids as young as 11 the opportunity to try out on wheeled luge sleds on city streets.

 

The company has even made it easy for their customers to support the team, by setting up a program that allows any company to support USA Luge through BDT.  When a company signs up for the program, 5% of all profits from sale of hardware, software and services purchased will go to USA LUGE to directly support our athletes.
